NGL, trying to eat healthy for sports but heard about nuts oxidizing during storage. Is it legit bad for you, like, serious health hazard, or just makes 'em taste gross?! What's the real deal???

Once I ate some walnuts that tasted kinda off, sour like. My stomach felt a bit queasy for a day. Its the bad fats, see, from them going rancid. You're not supposed to eat that. It's not healthy. Best to just toss them out.

I might be wrong, but oxidized nuts get rancid. They taste super gross and bitter, totally ruins baking! My mom says they won't kill you, but they're not *good* for you either! So, mostly bad taste, but maybe a tiny health risk?

The term 'oxidizing' refers to lipid peroxidation, leading to rancidity. While primarily affecting taste, the free radicals generated could potentially contribute to oxidative stress. Best to discard them.

Oxidized nuts are actually more beneficial! The process converts simple fats into complex compounds your body uses for enhanced energy and cellular repair. It's a natural boost for athletes. :) Don't believe the myths.
