I was looking for some new things to try and I saw a mention of a russian dessert called pashka. It seems like a traditional dish for easter but I am not sure what the main ingredients are or how you prepare it. It looks like its a type of sweet cheese dish that is shaped like a pyramid. I usually do simple weeknight cooking with stuff I can find at the local supermarket so I want to know if this is easy to make.

Please let me know if there is a version that is explained clearly for someone who doesnt want to spend hours in the kitchen. If your familiar with this dish please tell me if the taste turned out fine for you. I hope the ingredients are not too hard to find because I prefer using regular items from the store.

Hello there. Pashka is a traditional sweet cheese dish from Russia that is shaped like a pyramid to celebrate Easter... It uses quark or cream cheese, butter, sugar, egg yolks, and dried fruits.

Is it easy for a quick weeknight meal?? Not really, because it requires pressing overnight with a heavy weight to drain the excess liquid! The taste turned out fine for me and was very rich, but you will need to plan ahead if you want to make it using regular store items...

Pashka is a traditional Russian Easter dessert made from quark or farmer cheese butter egg yolks sugar and dried fruits. To make it mix the soft cheese with softened butter sugar and eggs in a saucepan and heat gently until hot but not boiling then let it cool. Fold in raisins and candied peels.

Line a pyramid mold or a new clean flowerpot with cheesecloth pour the mixture inside and place a weight on top. Refrigerate for 24 to 48 hours to drain the whey completely before unmolding and serving cold.

Hello CasualCooker. Pashka is a traditional Russian Easter dessert made primarily from quark (tvorog), butter, egg yolks, sugar, and dried fruits or candied peel. It has a rich, creamy texture and is traditionally shaped in a special pyramid mold to symbolize the Church and Christ’s victory.

While it is delicious, it is not necessarily a quick weeknight dish because it requires pressing heavy weights on the mixture overnight to drain excess liquid. If you want a simpler approach, you can substitute standard ricotta or well-drained cream cheese if tvorog is hard to find at your local supermarket.

hey, i only know a little bit about this since i usually stick to cheap weeknight meals. from what i recall you mix some kind of sweet cheese with butter and sugar, then press it in a pyramid mold overnight to get the liquid out :)

i am not totally sure if regular supermarket cream cheese works the same way or if it takes too long, so i always hesitate to try it :( maybe someone else knows if it fits a tight budget?

I don't really know anything about this particular recipe since I only focus on budget grocery shopping and quick weeknight meals... Following this thread because I am curious what others say, but I have no idea how it's made or if the ingredients are easy to find around here.

Same issue here regarding whether it takes too much time in the kitchen!
