Preheating your air fryer is generally recommended because it ensures the cooking chamber is already at the target temperature when the food goes in, which helps achieve an even sear and optimal crispiness. If you skip it, your food might need a few extra minutes to cook. For a quick weeknight dinner, running the empty basket for three minutes makes a noticeable difference in texture.

yep preheating def matters for quick weeknight meals. i tried skipping it last week when making chicken tenders and they turned out soggy and took way longer to cook. now i just run it empty for 3 mins while prepping and everything gets super crispy every time.

Yes, preheating matters for crispiness. If you are in a rush, just run it empty for three minutes while you prep your ingredients.

Cooking is a dialogue between time and heat. Preheating awakens the machine to greet your meal properly, though skipping it rarely ruins a simple weeknight dish.

Honestly all these modern gadgets with preheating buttons just complicate things when a normal oven worked fine for decades. I honestly doubt it makes any real difference to the food besides running up your electricity bill. People managed perfectly well without waiting around for appliances to warm up in the past.

I never preheat mine for frozen foods and they turn out fine. It might save a bit of electricity to skip it. Not really sure if it matters for a quick dinner.
