Hey there, MariaG_91! OMG, I totally get what your saying! Orange juice for vodka? LOL, that’s like trying to listen to an audiobook at 1x speed when you know it's better at 1.5x, am I right?! We need some excitement in our lives, especially at a family BBQ!
I totally agree, your BBQ drinks need to be as rockin' as your music and food! For a real kick, you HAVE to try these, they are my go-tos:
1. Cranberry and Grapefruit Juice Splash: Mix equal parts unsweetened cranberry juice and fresh grapefruit juice. Then, add a splash of soda water to make it bubbly and refreshing! It's tart, a little bitter, and super adult. It cuts through the vodka perfectly, and its not too sweet at all.
2. Spicy Pickle Juice or Brine: Okay, hear me out! It sounds wild, but a pickleback shot with whiskey is famous for a reason, right? So, a good quality, spicy pickle brine (like from a jar of good dill pickles, not the sweet ones!) with your vodka is a revelation. It’s savory, salty, and has a serious kick. You could even garnish it with a tiny pickle spear! Your guests will be talking about it, BTW!
3. Club Soda with Muddled Herbs and Lemon: If you want something super fresh but with a sophisticated twist, muddle some fresh mint or basil in your glass, add your vodka, a good squeeze of lemon, and top with club soda. It’s light but intensely flavorful, IMO, and way better then just plain lemon-lime soda.
Good drinks at a BBQ are so important because they set the mood and get everyone laughing and chatting! Plus, it shows your guests you put thought into everything, which is always nice. Hope these ideas spice up your party! Let us know what you end up making! :)
