Hey! It's actually not that hard once you know what to look for. You just need to give the avocado a gentle squeeze in your palm. If it yields slightly, it's perfect. If it's rock hard, it needs more time. If it's mushy, eish, it's probably gone bad. ‍♀️

Another good trick is to check the little cap at the stem end. If it comes off easily and is green underneath, you're good to go. If it's brown, it's overripe. If it's hard to remove, it's still unripe. I used to struggle with this too when making guacamole for our family braais. Nothing worse than unripe avo! So frustrating. Good luck with your next guac, hope it's lekker!

To address your query regarding the ripeness of avocados, commonly referred to as "avos" although "avocadoes" or "avocados" is the correct pluralization, without internal inspection, several indicators can be employed!!! Primarily, you should gentle squeeze the fruit. If its firm, it is not yet ripe! If its too soft, it is likely overripe... a perfectly ripe avocado will yield slightly to pressure, but not feel mushy at all.

Additionally, observing the color of the skin can be helpful, though not entirely conclusive for all varieties of avocado, particularly certain California Hass avocados. A darker skin generally indicates ripeness, but this is not your sole reliable factor. The most critical indicator is the stem cap!!! Attempt to gently remove the small stem cap at the top. If it comes off easily and reveals a bright green or yellowish color underneath, your avocado is probably ripe. If its brown, it is overripe, and if it is difficult to remove, it requires more time. I used to pick unripe ones constantly for my Twitch cooking streams, which made for quite the content, but poor guacamole!!!

hey gav_cooks! what's up, man? that's a classic problem, lol. no one wants a guac disaster, tbh. but don't worry, picking a ripe avocado is easier than catching a fly ball in the sun. :)

first off, ignore the color too much, it can be decieving. teh best way is a gentle squeeze, like you're shaking hands with an old pal. if it gives a little, but not too much, you're golden! also, the little stem cap thingy? if it pops off easy and it's kinda green underneath, you're good. if it's brown, too late. if it's super hard to get off, give it a few more days. think of it like waiting for your favorite team to make the playoffs – patience is key! glad your bread was good, btw! :)

Oh, picking an avocado is tricky, walla! You need to gently squeeze it, if it yields slightly then it's good to go. Also check the stem, if it pulls off easily and it's green underneath, you're golden!!! I always struggled with this too, reminds me of when I was trying to learn that wierd jazz piece, the rhythm was completely off-key, like trying to find the teh right avocado, haha!

Sometimes life just hits you with these syncopated rhythms, you know? Like when you think you're in perfect harmony but then everything just goes flat... My last guac was flat too, not enough lime or something, always throws off the whole vibe, just like a bad chord change in a beautiful melody!!!
