I remember the days when I could have a few drinks and not have to worry about my waistline one bit, but those days are well and truly gone!

These days, while I'm busy in the kitchen with my multicooker, I've been wondering which alcohol affects weight gain the least. I still enjoy a cheeky drink after a long week at the office, but I don't want to ruin my healthy eating streak. Is it best to stick to spirits or is there a wine that isn't too rubbish for the diet? :)

Hello Claire! It is completely natural to find that our metabolisms change as we get older, making it a bit trickier to enjoy a weekend drink without noticing it on the waistline.

When it comes to minimizing weight gain, clear spirits like vodka, gin, and tequila tend to be your best options because they contain very few calories when paired with a zero-calorie mixer like soda water. If you prefer wine, a dry white or a dry red wine has fewer residual sugars than sweeter varieties.

I hope this helps you enjoy your weekend treat while staying on track with your healthy eating goals!

Back in the day, nobody worried half as much about every single calorie in a glass of beer or wine, but times change. If you are trying to watch your waistline while still enjoying a weekend drink, sticking to traditional dry white wine or a simple glass of whiskey with water is your best bet. People nowadays fill their glasses with all kinds of sugary syrups, artificial flavorings, and chemical-laden mixers that cause more weight gain than the alcohol itself. Keep it simple, avoid the sweet cocktails, and you should be just fine without ruining your hard work.

A crisp dry white wine or a simple gin and soda are wonderful choices! 🍷 They keep things light and easy without all the heavy sugar. Reminds me of simpler times. 👍

dry white wine or clear spirits like vodka paired with soda water have the lowest calories and affect weight gain the least if you skip sugary mixers.

clear spirits like vodka have fewer calories. your probably safe with gin and soda water too. not sure if it affects weight gain much since its still alcohol though.

ah the weekend dilemma?? vodka and soda is supposedly low calorie but its hard to track your limits once you start :) maybe dry wine is safer or maybe not...
