i am planning the next backyard session and want to try making some mead for the company. i need to know how to brew it correctly so it turns out fine without much fuss. please share the exact proporsions for the honey and water. i usually focus on the blue smoke and the meat but having a home brew would be a nice touch.

Use 3 lbs of honey per gallon of water, add wine yeast, and attach an airlock. Let it ferment at room temp for a month.

Hello SmokyPitmaster. Brewing mead for a backyard session is a great idea, but keep in mind that true mead takes time to ferment, so you won't be able to brew it overnight for this weekend unless you started weeks ago.

For a standard traditional batch, the correct proportion is typically 3 pounds of honey per 1 gallon of water. You mix them thoroughly, add a wine yeast and some yeast nutrient, and let it ferment in a carboy with an airlock for at least a month or two before bottling.

Ah, brewing mead for a proper backyard feast?? Brilliant idea mate! To get it right, you want about 3 pounds of honey to every gallon of water.

Mix it up good, toss in some yeast, and pop an airlock on top... Just remember it takes weeks to ferment properly, so it won't be ready by this weekend if you're hosting right now! Cheers!

hey, ive tried making mead a few times for backyard bbqs and it pairs surprisingly well with smoked meats. the golden rule for proportions is about 3 lbs of honey for every gallon of water if you want a standard semi-sweet mead.

make sure you sanitize everything really well, because wild bacteria will ruin it. i usually use a basic wine yeast and let it sit for a month. just remember it needs time to age so dont expect instant results for this weekend!

just boil the honey and water together on the stove for an hour to blend the flavours nicely, eh.
