I am meal prepping and need to know how many days opened cheese lasts in the refrigerator. I avoid those modern processed products full of chemicals. Why is everything so complicated now?

Hello there. When dealing with natural, additive-free cheeses, storage depends heavily on the moisture content of the variety you have purchased.

Hard cheeses like parmesan or aged cheddar can last anywhere from three to six weeks once opened if wrapped properly in parchment paper and stored in a breathable container. Semi-hard cheeses like swiss or gouda typically last for two to three weeks.

Soft, fresh cheeses such as mozzarella or ricotta have a much higher moisture content and should be consumed within three to five days of opening to ensure safety and quality.

hard cheese like cheddar last about 3 to 4 weeks if u wrap it up good in wax paper or foil so it dont dry out soft cheese go bad way faster maybe 5 days cause of mold and moisture u can just cut off the hard green mold on hard cheese and eat the rest its totally fine but soft cheese gotta toss right away if u see anything weird my grandma always said keep it in the coldest part of the fridge not the door cus the temp changes too much there meal prep is easy if u just store stuff right

im meal prepping too so this is super helpful bc i hate wasting food. opened cheese usually stays good for like 2 weeks max in the fridge if u keep it in plastic wrap, though soft cheese lasts longer than hard cheese.
