Ah, wheat bread brings back such fond memories of family kitchens and slow weekends ... Do not worry too much if your dough has not risen after two hours, it happens to the best of us!! Sometimes the room is just too cold, or the yeast was a bit old. If you want to add more yeast now, you can, but please do not just toss it in dry! Dissolve a teaspoon of yeast in a little warm water first, wait till it bubbles up nicely, and then gently knead it into your heavy wheat dough. After that, cover it up and place it somewhere warm like near a sunny window or an unheated oven with the light on. Be patient, wheat bread takes time and love to rise properly!

Yes, but activate it first. 1. Mix fresh yeast with warm water. 2. Wait 5 minutes for foam. 3. Knead into dough. 4. Move to a warm spot for another hour.

Hello there! I understand how frustrating it can be when a cherished recipe like your mother's healthy wheat bread doesn't rise as expected after two hours. Can you add more yeast now? Yes, you can, but you shouldn't just sprinkle dry yeast directly into the dough. Instead, dissolve a small amount of active yeast in a tablespoon of warm water, let it foam for a few minutes, and then gently knead it into your dough. Often, dough fails to rise because the environment was too cold, or the original yeast was old. Try moving your bowl to a warmer spot, such as inside an oven with the light turned on, and give it some more time before adding anything!

Dissolving yeast directly won't work well now. Mix new yeast with warm water first, proof it, then knead it into the dough. Also check room temperature.
