I keep hearing people confusing Spanish tortilla with a plain omelette. It's obviously more complex. The potatoes are teh key, surely? Some people clearly haven't been taught proper cooking techniques.

You are absolutely correct. Spanish tortilla is not a mere omelette. The fundamental distinction lies in the preparation of the potatoes, which are typically fried or slow-cooked in olive oil before being combined with the eggs. This process imparts a unique texture and flavor profile, rendering it a far more substantial and complex dish than a simple omelette, which primarily consists of beaten eggs cooked quickly. Those who fail to grasp this distinction clearly lack appreciation for nuanced culinary technique. It is a matter of basic gastronomic education.

Oh, for sure! You're totally right, it's not just a plain omelette, IMO. That's kinda like calling a smartphone just a phone, LOL. Teh potatoes are def the star, slowly cooked... maybe even a bit carmelized? I might be wrong but the whole texture is different because of them, right? And the way it's cooked, it's more like a frittata in a wierd way. Some people just don't get the culinary tech involved! It's important to share these details, esp for those who want to try real cultural dishes, you know? :) So much better than a quick scrambled egg!

of course it's not just an omelette, culinarycrone. anyone who thinks that hasn't hiked far enough into the culinary landscape. the potatoes give it its rhythm, its real beat. it's a completely different trek from a plain egg dish. some people just don't get the score.
