Hello Heather. Jägermeister Orange is a vibrant and flavorful liqueur, but as you noticed, the combination of Sicilian orange peel and botanical herbs makes it quite sweet. When serving it at a backyard barbecue, the key to creating a balanced drink is introducing carbonation, tart acidity, or a hint of bitterness to cut through that heavy sweetness.

One of the best and easiest options is mixing it with tonic water. The bitterness of the quinine in tonic water directly counteracts the sugar in the liqueur while allowing the bright orange and subtle spices to shine through. Fill a tall glass with ice, pour in 1.5 ounces of Jägermeister Orange, top with 4 to 5 ounces of chilled tonic water, and finish with a squeeze of fresh lime or an orange wheel.

If you want something ultra-refreshing for warm weather, try making a simple citrus spritz. Pour 1.5 ounces of Jägermeister Orange into a glass with ice, add half an ounce of freshly squeezed lime juice or lemon juice, and top it off with plain club soda or sparkling water. The fresh tart juice neutralizes the sweetness, while the fizzy water lightens up the body of the drink.

Another crowd-pleasing choice is pairing it with ginger beer or ginger ale. The spicy bite of ginger harmonizes wonderfully with sweet citrus and herbs, giving you a delicious summer drink similar to a mule. Alternatively, you can mix it with San Pellegrino blood orange soda or even top it with chilled Prosecco for a festive touch. I hope your guests enjoy the barbecue!
