I am seeking a clear explanation for making authentic mashed potatoes. They should be prepared in the traditional manner. I hope they turn out fine.

Hello there! Preparing authentic mashed potatoes is a wonderful culinary tradition.

First, choose starchy potatoes like Russets or Yukon Golds. Peel them and cut them into even chunks so they cook uniformly.

Boil them in salted water until tender, then drain thoroughly. Mash them while hot, and gently fold in warm butter and warm milk to achieve a smooth, creamy texture.

Use discounted Russet potatoes. Boil chunks until tender, drain, then mash with a bit of butter and cheap store-brand milk. Season with salt.

I always use Yukon Golds because they make the texture so rich! Have you ever tried warming the milk first??? It changes everything...

Boil potato chunks in cold water. Once soft, mash them directly with cold milk and melted butter for a quick weeknight side dish.

Boil peeled potatoes until soft, then mash. I am not sure about the exact butter and milk ratios, I just add them until it looks right.
