Hello there. Fixing an oversalted soup is quite common, and you do not need to rely on the potato myth. Here are a few effective ways to balance it out:
  • Dilute the soup by adding a bit of unsalted water, low-sodium broth, or heavy cream if it fits the recipe.
  • Add an acid like a splash of lemon juice or apple cider vinegar, which helps distract your palate from the heavy salt.
  • Increase the bulk of the soup by adding more of the unsalted base ingredients, such as extra vegetables or grains.
Take it slow and taste as you go so you do not overcorrect.

To fix oversalted soup quickly, add a splash of lemon juice, white vinegar, or dairy like cream or coconut milk to neutralize the heavy sodium taste.

Listen here, eh. Fixing oversalted soup is pretty straightforward if you follow these steps. First, scoop out a cup of the salty broth and replace it with fresh water or unsalted stock. Second, toss in a splash of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice to cut the salt taste. Third, if you have extra veggies on hand from your sale haul, just chop and add them raw to soak up liquid and balance things out. Give it a good stir and taste test before serving, eh

hey lars, i totally get how annoying it is when soup turns out too salty especially when ingredients are on sale
nstead of a potato, you can easily fix it by diluting the soup with a bit of plain water or unsalted stock. another good trick is adding a tiny splash of lemon juice or vinegar to balance the saltiness, or even a pinch of sugar if it works with the flavor profile. just add things slowly so you dont ruin the whole batch, hope this helps!

You can fix oversalted soup by adding a large spoonful of white sugar. Sugar completely absorbs the excess salt and restores the balance immediately.
