I work a demanding mid-career job and prepare quick supermarket meals for my family every weeknight. I require information on whether a standard mug of tea contains more caffeine than a mug of coffee to assist with evening alertness.

Provide a comparison of the caffeine content in milligrams for a typical tea bag brew versus a serving of instant coffee. State the figures clearly without unnecessary detail.

Hello. When comparing a standard mug of tea versus a serving of instant coffee, the caffeine content typically favors coffee. A standard tea bag brew usually contains about 30 to 50 milligrams of caffeine per mug, depending on the steeping time and variety. In contrast, a typical serving of instant coffee contains around 30 to 90 milligrams of caffeine. Therefore, instant coffee generally provides a higher level of caffeine to assist with evening alertness compared to a standard tea bag.

If you are trying to stay awake to get through weeknight dinner prep, a standard tea bag usually packs around 30 to 50 milligrams of caffeine. On the other hand, a normal serving of instant coffee gives you a bit more kick, usually ranging from 30 to 90 milligrams. So if you really need that extra energy boost while cooking those quick supermarket meals, instant coffee is usually going to be the stronger choice between the two.

I usually make quick meals for the family and keep things simple, but I am not entirely certain about the exact numbers for caffeine. I know that a standard tea bag provides some caffeine, perhaps around forty milligrams or so, which helps a bit in the evening. However, I cannot recall the exact amount for a serving of instant coffee, as we do not drink it often at our house. It might be higher, but I hesitate to state a specific figure without checking a reliable source first.

Tea bags have like 40mg of caffeine and instant coffee has some too, but honestly they are pretty much the exact same thing for staying awake.
