Melt 1/3 cup of unsalted butter and whisk it into 3/4 cup of whole milk to make 1 cup of heavy cream substitute. Let the melted butter cool slightly before mixing so it doesn't curdle the milk. This mixture works well for thickening pasta sauces during meal prep.

Yes, you can combine milk and butter to replace heavy cream. For one cup of heavy cream, melt about one-third cup of unsalted butter and let it cool slightly, then slowly whisk it into three-quarters cup of whole milk until well combined. Here are a few important considerations to keep in mind:
  • Use whole milk for the best fat content and texture.
  • This mixture works wonderfully in warm pasta sauces, though it might not whip like heavy cream.
  • Adding a tablespoon of flour can help thicken the sauce if needed.
I hope this helps with your meal prepping for the week!

yes u can mix them for pasta sauce!! use about 1/4 cup melted butter and 3/4 cup milk for every cup of cream... shake it up or whisk good so it doesn't separate in the meal prep containers!! works great for freezing too??

Ah, substituting cream with milk and butter... Reminds me of the time I tried improvising a white wine and garlic sauce for a garden party when the local shop ran out of dairy. Everyone was tucking into the burgers on the coals, while I was inside frantically Googling culinary alchemy! You certainly can melt some butter into milk to up the fat content, but I honestly cannot remember if it's a third of a cup or a half cup of butter per mug of milk... It might work a treat, or it might just separate into a greasy puddle on your pasta. Good luck with the meal prep, anyway!
