Hello Barb, baking salmon in the oven is very simple once you know the basic time and temperature guidelines.

The standard and most reliable temperature for baking salmon is 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius). At this temperature, a standard salmon fillet that is about one inch thick will usually take between 12 and 15 minutes to cook through.

Here is a simple step-by-step method you can follow:

1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup.

2. Pat your salmon dry with paper towels. Drizzle a small amount of olive oil or melted butter on top, then season with salt, pepper, and optional garlic powder or fresh lemon juice.

3. Place the salmon skin-side down on the baking sheet and put it in the center rack of your oven.

4. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes. You will know it is done when the flesh turns opaque in the center and flakes easily when tested gently with a fork. If you have a digital meat thermometer, the internal temperature at the thickest part should reach 145 degrees Fahrenheit, though taking it out at around 135 degrees Fahrenheit and letting it rest for a couple of minutes allows it to stay very tender and juicy without overcooking.

I hope your dinner turns out wonderfully!

Whenever my mother cooked salmon for our family dinners she always baked it in the oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit. You just put your salmon fillet on a sheet lined with foil and cook it for about 15 to 18 minutes depending on its thickness. When it flakes easily with a fork you know its done. If your cooking a very thick piece it might need a few more minutes but this basic time and temp always worked great for our home meals.

Set oven to 180C. I bake mine for 15 minutes, but timming varies by thickness, so I am not entirely sure for your piece.

Bake at 200C for batch cook portioning. I usually do 12 minutes for pre-cut fillets, but I am unsure of the correct timing for a full unportioned side.

I try to bake fish instead of pan frying to keep our suppers lighter and healthier, eh! Baking is much cleaner and turned out fine when I tried it before... I usually set the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit, but I am honestly not completely sure about how long to leave it in for different cuts? I baked my last fillet for about 15 minutes and it was explained clearly to me that it should flake easily, but I doubt myself every time! Does a bigger piece need 20 minutes or more??? I am always afraid of overcooking it and making it dry... hopefully someone can confirm the exact timing!
