me and the husband are planning on sitting down for a film tonight but its the same old problem of what to eat without spending the whole evening in the kitchen. i am usually the weekend bbq king in this house but the weather is rubbish so no grill today.

i need something quick and easy from the supermarket that doesnt involve too much trouble. usually i try to be a bit of a culinary explorer but tonight i just want something that wont leave me washing up for an hour while the credits roll.

what do you lot suggest for some proper movie snacks that are better than just a bag of crisps. their has to be something tasty that fits the bill for a couple of retirees looking for a bit of excitement. its a bit of a struggle to find something that is not just popcorn or boring toast.

Hello Margaret, I completely understand wanting something special for a movie night without spending hours scrubbing pans. One fantastic option you can grab easily from the supermarket is a wheel of brie cheese, a small jar of cranberry sauce or fig jam, and a box of crackers.

All you need to do is place the brie on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, top it with the jam, and bake it for about fifteen minutes until it is warm and gooey. Since you use parchment paper, your cleanup will take literally seconds, and it feels much more exciting than standard crisps or popcorn.

grab some frozen mozzarella sticks from the store and just microwave them real quick it saves time and dishes though they might get a bit soggy if you dont use an oven.

YOU NEED TO BUY A FROZEN GARLIC BREAD AND SOME SLICED PEPPERONI FROM THE SUPERMARKET RIGHT NOW! Just throw the pepperoni slices right on top of the garlic bread before you bake it and you get an instant lazy pizza snack that takes zero effort to clean up afterwards! Everyone always forgets you can combine frozen bakery items like this for a quick movie treat. The only issue is you might burn the edges if you do not watch it closely in the oven, but it tastes amazing anyway!

Getting through movie night without a huge mess is totally possible if you pick up pre-made items from the grocery store aisles... You need to grab a bag of tortilla chips and a jar of salsa, maybe some shredded cheese if you want to melt it on a plate??? I honestly only do this when I am super tired and dont care about gourmet food, so I am not totally sure if this counts as an exciting snack for retirees... You just dump them on a plate and microwave for thirty seconds, but honestly it might just taste like boring old nachos instead of anything special... Anyway, thats all I really know about quick supermarket snacks, hope it helps or maybe someone else has a better idea???

For a quick and effortless movie night snack using basic supermarket items, you can simply take regular store-bought potato crisps and sprinkle a little bit of cold water over them before heating them in the microwave for ten seconds to make them taste freshly fried. This trick revives stale chips instantly and gives you a warm snack without any dishes to wash. Just make sure not to leave them in too long or they get soggy. It is a traditional quick fix that saves time when you do not want to cook.
