I use a multicooker for my weeknight meals. The pasta often sticks together in a clump.

I would like to know the corect way to boil it so it stays separate.

Ach, boiling pasta in those machines can be a bit tricky sometimes!! Have you tried adding a little bit of salt and a splash of oil right into the water before closing it?? That is how I always do it for my family, and it turns out fine every single time!!

Hello. When cooking pasta in a multicooker, sticking usually happens because of starch buildup and not enough water circulation during the initial stages. Here are the core steps to ensure your pasta stays separate and perfectly cooked:
  • Use enough water: Even in a multicooker, ensure the pasta is fully submerged with adequate room to move.
  • Stir early: Give the pasta a thorough stir right after adding it to the pot, and a couple of times during the first few minutes. This is when most sticking occurs.
  • Add a touch of fat: While traditional stovetop methods debate oil, a small splash of olive oil or butter can help coat the strands in a multicooker environment.
I hope this helps improve your weeknight routine. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I usually just make sure to stir the pasta right after putting it into the multicooker. If you stir it well during the first minute or two, it seems to prevent most of the clumping. I am not entirely sure if adding oil helps or not, but stirring has always worked decently for me.
