I have been noticing that my weight is incresing even though I eat very little and stick to simple ingredients from the supermarket. As someone who cooks quick weeknight meals after work, I try to keep my portions small but the scale keeps going up regardless of my efforts.

I am quite unsure why this is happening as I avoid heavy meals and focus on light dinners. Does anyone have advice on why weight grows despite a low food intake?

eating too little often slows down your metabolism. your body holds onto fat when it thinks it is starving. you might need to eat slightly more nutrient dense foods.

Sometimes stress or lack of sleep can cause water retention, which might make the scale go up even if food intake is low.

Hello there. When you eat very little, your body can sometimes enter a state of metabolic adaptation where it conserves energy. Also, even simple supermarket ingredients can pack hidden calories if portion sizes or cooking oils aren't tracked closely.

I recommend checking your total daily energy expenditure and tracking everything for a few days to get an accurate picture.

im not totaly shure about this but when you cook quick supermarket meals maybe hidden sodium is making you retain water and weight gain is not fat, i mean i notice my weight fluchtuates a lot depending on salt and things like that so it could be something simple.

I am not completely certain, but sometimes pre-packaged supermarket foods have sneaky additives that affect your metabolism. In South Africa we call quick dinners a quick fix, but they might be holding onto water weight instead of actual fat.
