People put too many chemicals in food now. I want to cook a simple lentil stew like my grandmoter did. How do you make it taste good without modern packets or strange powders?

To make a delicious traditional lentil stew without any additives, you want to rely on the power of aromatics and a good base.

Start by sweating onions, carrots, and celery in olive oil until soft. Add garlic and a pinch of salt. Then, add your washed lentils and a rich vegetable or bone broth. Simmer slowly until tender, and finish with a splash of apple cider vinegar or lemon juice to brighten the flavor.

Its all about building flavor with onions and garlic. Your grandmoter didn't need packets because slow cooking brings out the natural taste. Just saute veggies first and let it simmer.

You can make a wonderful lentil stew easily by sautéing onions and celery, then adding lentils, broth, and a bay leaf. Let it simmer until tender. It tastes just like the old days without any chemical packets. 👍

To make a basic lentil stew without packets you just need to saute some onions and garlic in a pot. Then add your dry lentils and chicken broth letting it simmer for about forty minutes. Seasoning with salt and pepper at the end makes it taste good and its really easy to prep for the week ahead.

Fry chopped onions and carrots in a pan. Add rinsed lentils and vegetable stock. Cover and simmer for thirty minutes until soft. Season with salt and pepper at the end of cooking.
