Ingredients for Dietary Chicken Cutlets Baked in a Roasting Bag
- 400 g chicken breast fillet
- 50 g rolled oats
- 50 g milk
- 1 onion
- 1 clove of garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
- salt and chicken seasoning to taste
- odorless vegetable oil
- roasting bag (about 50 centimeters)
How to Make Dietary Chicken Cutlets in a Roasting Bag in the Oven
Remove the skin from the chicken breast and cut the fillet off the bone. You can leave a little chicken fat on, as it will make the kotlety (a type of meat patty popular in Eastern European cuisine) juicier. If you are on a low-calorie diet, it’s best to trim off all the fat.
Cut the onion into small pieces.
Pass the chicken fillet, chopped onion, and garlic clove through a meat grinder with a fine plate, or blend the ingredients in a food processor. You can add 1-2 tablespoons of cold water to the blender to make grinding the meat easier.
Pour cold milk over the quick-cooking rolled oats. Stir and let the oats soak for 10 minutes.
The soaked oats become sticky and bind the patties well, working even better than an egg. Add the oats to the minced meat.
Add the spices: half a teaspoon of dried parsley and salt to taste. If desired, add a pre-made chicken seasoning blend. Be careful, as the seasoning may contain salt, in which case you should reduce the amount of salt in the recipe or omit it altogether.
Knead the mixture thoroughly. You can place it in the refrigerator for a while; it’s easier to form patties from chilled mince.
Divide the mixture into equal portions, about 110 g each. Moisten your hands with cold water and form round, flat patties. Cut about 50 centimeters of a roasting bag and two 15-centimeter ties.
Place the roasting bag on a baking sheet. Tie one end of the bag tightly and grease the inside surface with one teaspoon of odorless vegetable oil. Place the patties inside the bag, spaced apart. Tie the other end of the bag, but not too tightly, to allow steam to escape and prevent the bag from bursting during cooking. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit). Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and cook the patties for 15 minutes.
Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes. Then, cut the bag open. The patties will continue to cook during these 10 minutes.
Serve the juicy, delicious, and healthy chicken breast patties with a green salad.
And there you have it – perfectly juicy, tender, and healthy chicken patties that are sure to become a new family favorite. This recipe proves that dietary food can be incredibly satisfying and full of flavor. Serve these delightful kotlety warm with a fresh green salad, a side of steamed vegetables, or a scoop of quinoa for a complete and balanced meal.
